KING'S NORTON GIRLS' SCHOOL

This is the history of a school which has had three different names during its existence. From 1910 until the early 1930's it was known as 'Kings Norton Secondary School for Girls', and that is the name which was carved over the main entrance to the present school building when it was constructed in 1927.

Subsequently the Birmingham City Council distinguished between the non-selective secondary modern schools and the selective grammar schools and so our school became known as 'King's Norton Grammar School for Girls'. On becoming comprehensive in 1975 we became, simply ‘King's Norton Girls' School’
