Our Learning Hub

The Learning Hub is open at breaktimes, lunchtimes for all students and until 4.00pm for Homework Club (for invited students ONLY).

The Learning Hub is available for homework, research or reading during the day and before and after school. It is a welcoming environment in which to relax with a good book or study quietly. It is stocked with a large number of fiction and non-fiction titles to suit all ages and interests. There are magazines as well as DVDs which are available for borrowing. All subjects are stocked with up-to-date resources to enhance learning, both specifically for topics being studied within the curriculum and to extend learning.

Homework Club:

After school, invited students only are able to come to the Learning Hub to complete Homework. We offer a quiet and supported environment for study.

Computers:

The Learning Hub has 16 desktop computers for use in the Hub.

Careers Zone:

The Careers Zone, within the Learning Hub, is well-stocked with the latest university prospectuses, information about university applications, apprenticeships and job searching, including local labour market. There is also a dedicated area, with two tablets, available for students to specifically carry out research on Unifrog.

Other Activities in the Hub

The Learning Hub provides numerous initiatives and competitions which promote literacy skills through the year.

There are various informal book clubs which are run throughout the year where all year groups are included.

We also take part in various national and local competitions such as Radio 2 500 words and The Federation of Children’s Book Group Awards.  In addition we celebrate special events such as Roald Dahl Day and World Book Day which this year includes a talk and a workshop from author, Mimi Thebo.
