Our Learning Hub

The Learning Hub is open at breaktimes, lunchtimes and after school until 4.30pm (Mon – Thurs) and 4.00pm (Fri).

The Learning Hub is available for research or reading during the day and before and after school. It is a welcoming environment in which to relax with a good book or study quietly. It is stocked with a large number of fiction and non-fiction titles to suit all ages and interests. There is also a selection of revision guides which can be photocopied.  DVDs are also available for booking. All subjects are stocked with up-to-date resources to enhance learning, both specifically for topics being studied within the curriculum and to extend learning.

Homework Club:

After school, students are able to come to the Learning Hub to complete homework. We offer a quiet and supported environment for study.

Computers:

The Learning Hub has 12 desktop computers for use in the Hub.

Other Activities in the Hub

The Learning Hub provides numerous initiatives and competitions which promote literacy skills through the year.

There are various informal book clubs which are run throughout the year where all year groups are included.  These include the Books into Movie Group, the Carnegie Shadowing Group and the Teen Book Awards where students compete against other schools.

We also celebrate special events such as Roald Dahl Day, which saw the Hub buzz with competitions and fun challenges, and World Book Day which this year included a whole week of events including a talk from author David Massey.
