Enrichment

Alongside A Level subjects all students will select from a range of enrichment and enhancement activities. There are a wide variety of options which include support for A Level study, preparation for university through further academic study, enriching creative or sporting activities for health and enjoyment.

Likely Examined A Level enhancement options are: Extended Project Qualification (EPQ); Further Maths;

Non-examined enrichment opportunities may include: art, fitness, ICT, leadership, work experience.

Extended Project

  • AQA – Level 3 qualification

The AQA Level 3 Extended Project supports students with the transition to higher education or into the world of work. It provides opportunities for the development of critical, reflective, problem-solving and independent learning skills through the planning, research and evaluation of a self-selected project.

Extended Projects can be followed in a wide range of subjects.

Through an in-depth study students will develop and apply skills creatively, resulting in one of the four following project outcomes:

  • A dissertation
  • An investigation
  • A performance
  • An artefact

The AQA Extended Project is graded A* to E and is equivalent to half an A Level.

Further maths is offered at AS and A Level, some teaching time takes place during the enrichment activity as well as elsewhere in the timetable.

Fitness
The Sixth Form have priority use of our new fitness suite outside of lesson times.
Leadership
There are a range of opportunities to develop leadership skills from being a member of the Senior Student Leadership Team, House leadership roles, mentoring or being subject ambassador. Students can also set up and run clubs in an area of particular interest to them. Taking advantage of such opportunities will provide valuable experiences and insights for future pathways, whatever they may be.
