Freedom for Moses Akatugba
In December, KNGS campaigned with Amnesty International on behalf of Moses Akatugba from Nigeria.
Aged just 16, Moses was arrested for stealing a mobile phone. He “confessed” to the crime after being tortured (this included having his nails pulled out with pliers) and was subsequently sentenced to death.
In December, people around the world, including students from KNGS, sent cards to the Nigerian government demanding that the death sentence be revoked.
On 28th May 2015 Moses was granted a full pardon and walked free from prison where he had spent the last 8 years of his life.
Small actions can make a big difference. Thank you from the KNGS Amnesty Youth Group!
