Indian Partition
Students take part in workshop
12 students from Years 8 & 9 participated in a project to learn about and commemorate Indian Partition on its 70th anniversary. The project was funded by HLF and involved three drama workshops (run by Sampad) which led to a student drama based presentation for all Year 9’s.

The presentation was really moving and encouraged the Year 9s to think about what partition meant for the individuals and families involved. The girls were then invited to participate in the Birmingham City commemoration of partition. This included presenting a section from their presentation, listening and watching other schools’ presentations and creating a rangoli design in the Victoria Square. The students then participated in a final event in Birmingham Council House. The students excelled themselves at all parts of this process and were outstanding ambassadors for the History department.
