Kings Norton Girls’ School Go Bananas As They Celebrate Highest Ever GCSE Results
Kings Norton Girls’ School celebrates their highest ever GCSE results today despite the additional challenges of the new exams.
Smashing the national pass rate at the highest new GCSE grade 9:
English Language: 11% vs national at 3.3%
Maths: 3.7% vs national 2.9%
There is no doubt about the challenge on offer for the most able at KNGS.
In addition:
39% of grades at A*-A – KNGS’ highest ever
85% of pupils achieving/exceeding the National benchmark grade 4 in English & maths (English being 15% higher and maths 16% higher than national)
Adding to last week’s successes at A Level, this truly marks a year of excellent academic and personal achievements for students at the school.
We are extremely proud of the individual achievements of each of our students which are a reflection of their hard work, resilience and determination. A huge thank you to staff for their care, support and for instilling the self-belief which is so significant a factor in their success at KNGS. And a big thank you also to Jim Cunningham of the Stirchley COOP for providing the proverbial bananas prior to the exam sessions which undoubtedly made their contribution.
Among the girls’ celebrating today are Lucy Wilkes, Rebecca Lane, Charlotte Bice, Zoe Harfield, Emily Humphreys, Charlotte Khanan, Grace Cleary, Mackenzie Vaughan, Mia Barlow, Alice Falciani, Sachini Pattiya Gardi Hewage, Eleanor Oliveira, Alex Whittall, Molly Clifford, Holly Leach, Milly Steeds, Emily Cornford, Ciara Hay, Sophie McCarron, Ohemaa Donkor, Malika Saidova, Josie Drapkin, Katarina Scott, and Ruby Garvie who all achieved 9 or more A*-A grades.
Sophie said “Amazing! I tried my best and with help from all of the incredible teachers, hard work really does pay off!”

We very much look forward to welcoming these talented students back into our Sixth Form in September, where they will continue their achievements at A-Level, and continue to make the most of the opportunities, both academic an extra-curricular over the next two years.
