KNGS Celebrates an ‘Outstanding’ start to the academic year

Kings Norton Girls’ School & Sixth Form has had an amazing start to the academic year celebrating an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating following a two day inspection at the end of the summer term, along with another fantastic set of exam results at GCSE and our best ever results at A Level.

Following the July inspection, Ofsted rated KNGS ‘outstanding’ for overall effectiveness and in the categories of effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and the outcomes of pupils.

In their report Inspectors praised Nicola Raggett – “Headteacher, supported by a highly effective senior team and governing body” for creating “an academically successful, relaxed and harmonious community.”

In their summary of findings inspectors highlighted that “pupils thrive” at KNGS and “are proud of their school” which “leads to their behaviour being exemplary.” They also noted that “as a result of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, current pupils make exceptional progress” and that “outcomes over time have been among the best in the country”.

This outstanding Ofsted report was further underpinned by an enviable set of exam results. Pupils achieved the schools best ever A Level results with 30% of grades being at A*- A and 64% at grades A*- B, with three students successfully securing places to study at Cambridge University. GSCE results sat well above national averages with 38% of grades at grade 7 and above and 87% of grades at 4 and above.

Headteacher Nicola Raggett said: “I am delighted Ofsted have agreed with our assessment of Kings Norton Girls’ School & Sixth Form. The positive comments in the report show that our hard work and high expectations have resulted in exceptional academic outcomes, whilst maintaining a nurturing and highly supportive environment where the well-being of both students and staff are a priority. I would personally like to thank all staff, students, parents, carers and governors for their on-going hard work and dedication. We are extremely proud of our outstanding achievements.”
