Music Tour to Belgium
Between 2nd – 6th July students from the Girls’ School anMusic tod the Boys’ School set off on a week-long tour of Belgium. It was the culmination of weeks of rehearsal, planning and preparation with everyone involved looking forward to it. The choir, orchestra and a variety of smaller ensembles performed four concerts in historic town squares at Ypres, De Panne and Kortrijk. Our fourth concert took part in Bobbejaaland Theme Park, with staff and students enjoying the rides later!

The trip was not just musical as there was a good mix of culture and history thrown in too. Some of the many highlights were visits to the WWI sites of Tyne Cot cemetery and Sanctuary Wood and witnessing the last post performed at the Menin Gate in Ypres. We also had the chance to see the Grenadier Guards practising for Changing the Guard in their barracks just outside Buckingham Palace on the way to the Eurotunnel.
All in all it was a fantastic trip and a wonderful opportunity for students at both schools who as a result have formed many new and lasting friendships and memories. We hope to repeat the experience soon!
