Ski Trip Updates

Day 5

Last day – Beautiful ski conditions today, cold but sunny 🌞 ⛷️ Pupils enjoyed their last day skiing followed by a presentation of certificates and badges at the end of the day. They gave their instructors thank you cards and said fairwell. We have just had dinner and set off for the journey home. Lots of very tired legs but happy pupils. They have worked so hard and made the most of every opportunity. We have learnt to ski, but also so much more. Teamwork, time keeping, organisation, resilience and determination, that patience pays off, and even a little bit of Italian.

Looking forward to nice comfy beds and hugs soon 😀

Day 4

Another fab day’s skiing. All groups had lunch out on the mountain today as they were travelling far and wide across pistes. Most ate at the Stella De Italia restaurant that served the most delicious pizza’s. The highest point was reached today by some who were treated to panoramic views of the Dolomites.

Some explored an old Fort in the mountain and we had lots of groups skiing red runs and even a few black runs as well. We have practiced a little Italian by writing thank you cards for all our wonderful instructors this evening. Tonight we have packed and are ready for our final days skiing tomorrow before setting off for home. Many are missing home but sad to be finishing skiing.

Day 3

Wow, what a fantastic day’s skiing. After a slightly later start this morning due to rain, groups were eager to get skiing. I am so astounded by the progress and so proud of our pupils. So many groups explored new areas today, went higher than they had been, skied red runs for the first time and got to see the spectacular views from the top of the mountain. Some even managed to get a slice of pizza and hot chocolate from a mountain restaurant at lunch time. It was so lovely to see lines of smiling faces all over the piste. This afternoon we got to go shopping in Folgaria. Many sampled the delicious Italian ice cream, lots bought snacks for the journey home and a few souvenirs. Pupils have started a memory wall this evening and so many pupils are saying how they feel their confidence has grown, and it shows. So much resilience and determination to get back up if they fall and develop their skills. I need to say again how proud I am of all of them, it was a pleasure to ski with them today. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Day 2

Day two started with a lovely morning of skiing, all Ski groups progressing well and managed to show off their skills higher up the mountain using the chair lifts. Improvement is really starting to show with groups advancing well, loads of giggles and smiles as they whiz along. Now off for our evening activity of a snow shoe walk on snowy peak 😀.

Day 1

Fantastic first day skiing ⛷️. So proud of all our pupils today. Groups met their instructors and spent the morning learning the basics before most headed up the first chair lift and explored the blue runs. The teamwork, support and care they are showing for each other is so lovely to see and the resilience and determination to keep trying even when they are finding it hard is starting to shine through and pay off already. This evening we went Ice Skating which was ace. Looking forward to another packed day tomorrow.
