Year 8 Ski Trip – An Update from Torgon

30 Year 8 pupils along with three staff from KNGS have this week joined pupils and staff from Swanshurst, Lordswood Girls’ and Bishop Challoner on a ski trip to Torgon in Switzerland. The group travelled by coach and ferry, arriving on Saturday afternoon to snow capped mountains and bright sunshine. Trip leader Mrs Currie has sent daily updates. Here is an overview of their time so far.

Saturday

The girls are in really good spirits after a great journey – we watched few dvds, had a ‘Frozen’ sing along and had as good a sleep as is possible on a coach! Speaking of the coach, we felt very lucky as it was brand new on it’s maiden voyage, a really comfortable coach. So far we have had briefings, settled into rooms and have just gone through ski fit ready for tomorrow morning. All are excited for tomorrow, just need a good nights sleep.

Sunday

Great day skiing today with all groups progressing well! Two groups skied in Plan-de-Croix area today with the rest on the Torgon slope. More groups to move slopes tomorrow. The evening activity was a roller disco. Weather is bright sunshine but still with a lovely snow covering. Looking forward to another good day tomorrow.

Monday

Another beautiful sunny day, we have seen some fabulous progress on the slopes today. All took packed lunches and stayed out on the mountains all day having their lunch on the slopes. Some groups ventured further today, getting close to La Chapelle in France. Others will head to Plan-de-Croix tomorrow morning with other groups soon to follow. The evening activity was a climbing wall where girls were really enthusiastic and encouraged each other wonderfully. There is a real sense of team emerging, which is lovely to see. The girls are supporting each other to overcome their challenges and fears. Lots of tired but happy faces so an early bedtime this evening; we are looking forward to another good day tomorrow.

We look forward to hearing more from the group, as the week progresses!
